1. Protein Pudding:

Combine 1 scoop protein powder with a 1/4- 1/2 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk. Mix until desired thickness is obtained. Add 1 tbsp. of nut butter and a ¼ cup of berries on top. (My favorite protein to use is Plant Fusion chocolate). As low sugar snacks go this is super easy to digest and is great pre or post workout so you have energy and can recover fast.

2. Chocolate Chip Protein and Oat Pancakes

Combine 1/2 cup oats, 1/2 cup organic Greek yogurt (or non dairy milk, if dairy free), 1/2 cup egg whites in blender. Blend until completely liquefied. Add 2 tbsp. chocolate chips to batter and 1 tsp. cinnamon. Pour into non-stick pan coated in coconut oil. This makes one gigantic pancake!

I will eat it for a snack any time of the day or if it’s breakfast I add some almond butter and berries on top.

3. Salmon Avocado Cake

Too early for dinner, but starving? This snack will definitely hold you over. Simply layer smoked salmon and avocado on a brown rice cake. Super savory, creamy and crunchy all in one!

I bet you don’t have this one on your list of low sugar snacks.

4. Steve’s Original Paleo Crunch Granola Bars

Look for any flavor that has less than 10 grams of sugar per serving, which is my general rule for keeping down the sugar.

This amazing whole foods snack will keep your mid-afternoon sweet cravings at bay and you can just throw it in your bag.

5. RX Bars

We cannot stock these bars fast enough at Unite because they are so delicious and have such simple, clean ingredients. The RX bar message is to have few, quality, whole food ingredients so they actually make their packaging their ingredient list. RX bars are perfect high protein, low sugar snacks as they only use eggs as their protein source, dates as the chewy fruit energy glue, nuts for healthy fats and then the special flavor ingredients. You won’t believe how much blueberry smells like real blueberries! Plus no chalky dry protein powders.

6. Raw Nut or Nut Butter Packets

These are incredible for traveling and will never go bad. Try having one with a piece of fruit or adding it to a plain instant oatmeal to get a complete meal! Single serve packs of nuts come in lots of varieties at Trader Joe’s.

7. Enlightened Broad Bean Crisps

A lima bean baked to perfection with amazing, savory seasonings. Are you craving something crunchy and salty, but way more nutritious than pretzels out of the vending machine? These will do the trick! I also like to put them on my salads as croutons.
